Hugh Strange gave a lecture at the Piran Days of Architecture conference in the Slovenian town of Piran on the Mediterranean coast. The theme of the international architecture conference focused on the re-use of existing buildings.

Hugh Strange took part in judging the Architectural Review’s AR New Into Old Awards, featured in the Architectural Review’s Dec 2019/Jan 2020 issue, assessing how entries adapted and remodeled existing buildings.

The Photographer’s House project was featured in the ‘An Evening With...’ series of Open House Tours run by Open City. Hugh and the client presented the house, and discussed its design process with guests.

The transformed House in Clapton is now completed.

Works progress on site in Clapton, with the house’s existing roof structure and rear walls removed and the new structural walls framed and awaiting roof trusses.

A new book on the Strange House & Studio is now available from the RIBA bookshop and through the HSA website (£15+p&p). The book features an essay by the architectural critic Ellis Woodman, and photographs by David Grandorge.

Hugh Strange Architects are engaged in an ongoing collaboration with the Portuguese Architect Alvaro Siza. During August Hugh visited Siza in his office in Porto to discuss works to the agricultural silos adjacent to the Architecture Archive.
